Our caregivers are personal assistants providing non-medical care under our Texas Personal Assistance Services license (#020448). They help with bathing, dressing, meals, medication reminders, errands, housekeeping, and companionship — the daily work that keeps someone living at home. They do not provide nursing or medical treatment, and they work alongside your doctor, home health, or hospice team.

Every personal assistant is criminally background-checked

This is the non-negotiable. Every personal assistant we employ passes a criminal background check before they ever enter a client's home. Not most of them. Not the full-time ones. All of them.

It is worth knowing that this is not true everywhere. Families who hire a private caregiver from a classified ad or an online marketplace often skip the background check entirely, because running one properly is expensive and awkward. How we screen and hire

Background checks are the floor, not the whole process. Before a caregiver joins our team, we evaluate whether they have the experience and the temperament for this work — the patience for a slow morning routine, the steadiness for a client with dementia, the judgment to call the office when something seems off.

What we can promise without qualification: no one is sent to your home who has not cleared a criminal background check, and no one stays on a case where the family is not comfortable.

How caregiver matching works

A background check tells you a caregiver is safe. It does not tell you whether your father — a retired mechanic who wants to talk about the Cowboys, not the weather — will actually enjoy having them in his kitchen. Matching is where home care succeeds or fails, so we treat it as its own step.

During your free in-home assessment we learn more than the task list. We ask about personality, routines, interests, language, and the small preferences that decide whether a caregiver feels like help or like an intrusion. Then we match a caregiver we believe fits — and if the match isn't right, you can request a different caregiver at any time. We do not simply assign someone and hope.

If the match isn't right, say so

Sometimes a match that looks right on paper doesn't click in person. When that happens, request a different caregiver — on day one or in month six. We handle the change, and you never have to have an uncomfortable conversation with the caregiver yourself. There is no form to fight through and no penalty. A family that feels stuck with the wrong person stops using care they need; we would rather rematch a dozen times than let that happen.

Consistency matters too. Once a match works, we keep it working — the same familiar face at the door matters enormously, especially for clients with memory loss. And because care plans are built around your loved one's routine, the caregiver fits into their day, not the other way around: a morning visit, a full day, or overnight help, adjusted whenever life changes.

Where our caregivers work

Most of our care happens in private residences, but our personal assistants also work in hospitals and healthcare facilities. Families use us as bedside sitters during a hospital stay, and as one-on-one companions inside assisted living and other communities where staff attention is stretched thin. Wherever your loved one is, the same rules apply: background-checked caregivers, one flat hourly rate, and schedules that can be adjusted as needs change.
