How 24-hour care works

Round-the-clock care is built from shifts. A small team of caregivers rotates through the day and night — commonly two 12-hour shifts, sometimes three 8-hour shifts — so there is never a stretch of the day when your parent is on their own. The caregiver on duty overnight is awake and working. Nobody sleeps on the job, because the job at 3am is to be up.

That is what makes this the right service when the nights are the dangerous part: wandering, frequent bathroom trips, repositioning, anxiety at odd hours, or a hospital discharge that came with "she can't be left alone." Every one of those 24 hours is a staffed, working hour — and every one is billed at the same flat hourly rate, days, evenings and overnights alike. No overnight premium, no levels-of-care surcharge.

The rotation is deliberately small — usually two or three caregivers across the week — so the same faces come back on a predictable pattern and your parent isn't meeting a stranger at bedtime. We match the team, you meet them before care begins, and if a match isn't right you can ask for a different caregiver.

What round-the-clock care includes

• Personal care at any hour — bathing, dressing, toileting, and safe help getting up at night
• Overnight safety presence — someone there when most falls happen, on the way to the bathroom in the dark
• All meals and hydration — breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, cooked in your parent's own kitchen
• Medication reminders — on schedule around the clock, from the list your family or pharmacy provides
• Household upkeep — laundry, dishes, linens, and trash, so the home keeps running
• Companionship and structure — a day with rhythm and conversation instead of a television and an empty house
• Family updates — you hear about changes in appetite, mood, or steadiness instead of discovering them

What this service does not include

We are a non-medical agency licensed by the State of Texas for Personal Assistance Services — license #020448. Around-the-clock coverage does not turn a caregiver into a nurse. Our team does not give injections, manage wound care, operate medical equipment, or adjust medications, and we never imply otherwise. When clients also have home health or hospice, our caregivers work alongside those medical teams — we cover the hours and the daily living, they cover the clinical care. If your parent needs skilled nursing around the clock, that is a different service, and we will tell you so at the assessment.

Start with the assessment, not a guess

Families often call asking for full round-the-clock coverage when a few well-placed shifts would do — and sometimes the reverse, asking for an evening visit when the nights clearly need somebody awake. The free in-home assessment settles it: we look at the nights honestly, build the schedule your parent actually needs, and put the numbers in front of you. Care plans are built around your loved one’s routine, schedules can be adjusted as needs change, and care can often start within 24 hours.

What this costs

We publish our rates — most agencies don’t. Two things to know before you compare: our rate is one flat hourly rate around the clock, and it does not increase when care needs increase. There are no “levels of care” here.

Because every hour is billed the same way, the arithmetic is simple. A week of full coverage is 168 hours; a month averages about 728. At our published rates that puts round-the-clock care at roughly $21,840 to $24,750 a month — and when both spouses need care, one caregiver in the home covers both, at a couples discount rather than two full rates.
