What sitter services do not include
Sitters are not nurses and do not replace facility staff. We are a non-medical agency licensed by the State of Texas for Personal Assistance Services, so our sitters do not administer medications, manage IVs or wounds, operate medical equipment, or make clinical decisions — in a facility, hands-on medical care stays with the facility's team, and our sitters work within each facility's policies for private caregivers. What a sitter adds is uninterrupted attention and a direct line to your family. Being plain about that boundary is why facility staff are comfortable having our sitters on the floor.

Questions families ask
What does a hospital sitter actually do?
A sitter stays with your parent one-on-one — providing company and reassurance, helping at mealtimes, pressing the call button and getting staff when something is needed, and keeping your family updated. Sitters are background-checked caregivers working under our Texas Personal Assistance Services license #020448.
Are private sitters allowed in hospitals and facilities?
Families arrange private sitters in hospitals, rehab centers, and assisted living communities across DFW every day. Each facility has its own policies, and our sitters identify themselves to staff and follow the facility's rules. Tell the charge nurse or facility director a private sitter is coming — we help coordinate that.
Do you provide overnight sitters?
Yes — nights are the most requested shift. Confusion and falls are more common overnight, staffing is lighter, and it is the hardest shift for family to cover. An awake sitter stays at the bedside so your family can sleep and return useful in the morning.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
Four hours, the same minimum as all our services. Most families book sitters in longer blocks anyway — an evening, an overnight, or around the clock — and every hour bills at the same flat rate, day or night. The schedule can be adjusted as the stay unfolds.
Can the sitter continue as the caregiver after discharge?
Often, yes — and it is one of the best reasons to start in the facility. The caregiver already knows your parent, and your parent comes home with a familiar face instead of a stranger. We provide care in private residences, hospitals, and healthcare facilities, so the plan follows the person.
How is a sitter different from the facility's own staff?
Facility staff are responsible for every patient on the floor; your sitter is responsible for exactly one. Sitters are not medical staff and do not replace nurses — they add continuous presence, so someone notices immediately when your parent needs help and gets staff involved fast.
How quickly can a sitter be at the hospital?
Call us and we will move quickly — a sitter can often be in place within 24 hours, and sooner when a family is in a bind. We answer around the clock, because these requests rarely happen during business hours.
